Problem & Solutions
Ramesh’s teeth were crooked, worn down & yellow from years of neglecting and grinding his teeth. Not only were his teeth chipped and broken he was also suffering from jaw soreness and discomfort. He wanted a younger looking smile that was straight and brighter. With his busy schedule, he wanted results that would take months not years. His grandchildren also commented on his discolored and Misshapen Teeth, which prompted him to get his smile done.
Dr. Patel straightened and whitened Ramesh’s teeth using a combination of porcelain veneers and crowns. Dr. Patel also helped stabilize his bite using Neuromuscular Dentistry to help relieve his jaw soreness and discomfort.

What does it mean to have a tooth capped?
Capping is another name for crowns. A crown is a cover for a tooth, to protect and preserve it after it’s become severely broken, decayed or damaged. The dentist will make a mold of your teeth and a dental lab will create a crown that matches the tooth’s exact specifications. A cosmetic dentist can tell you if crowns are appropriate for your dental situation.

I need one crown. Will it look like my other teeth?
Yes. Your cosmetic dentist will consider the color, shape, and size of your natural teeth when ordering your crown. An impression of your teeth will be taken to insure that the crown fits the damaged tooth precisely and is in harmony with the surrounding teeth.

My dentist said I need a bridge. What is that?
A bridge is a structure containing an artificial tooth connected to a crown on each side. When a tooth is missing, the neighboring teeth can gradually migrate out of position, causing bite problems. To prevent that, the artificial tooth fills the empty space, and the two neighboring teeth are reshaped to receive crowns. When fitted by an experienced dentist, bridges are comfortable, durable, and look natural!

I am self-conscious about a gold crown that shows when I smile. Can it be replaced?
Yes. Today’s porcelain crowns are so durable that they can be used on molars (your back teeth), blending with your other teeth for a healthy, natural look, and providing a strong chewing surface.
In some cases, if a person has a particularly hard bite, the porcelain can be mixed with a metal for extra strength, in which the metal is not visible. Schedule a consultation with your cosmetic dentist to learn more.

There’s a black line at the bottom of one of my old crowns. Can I get rid of it?
DEFINITELY! With today’s materials we can create crowns that look natural and life like! Those black lines appear after a while when a crown is made of a porcelain-and-metal mix. The line is the metal underneath the porcelain showing through. To eliminate the black line, you’d need to have an all-porcelain crown to replace the metal one.
